Following the recent incident that occurred during President William Ruto’s city tour in Nairobi, it has raised concern about public safety. Businesses were vandalised and innocent citizens robbed due to that chaos as Kenyans voiced their grievances. 

One major issue is lack of unemployment, which has contributed to these criminal activities that occurred during the President’s tour of  Nairobi. High levels of unemployment create a sense of desperation and frustration among individuals,  mostly young people.

Due to unemployment and financial struggles, the youth involve themselves in crime and theft as a source of livelihood.

The citizens may tend to blame and “curse” the goons, but it is the responsibility of the government to create jobs for the youths instead of false promises .

The government should stop lying  that it has created jobs.

Some businesses and individuals have faced financial setbacks due to looting and theft. Individuals who  were affected by theft and violence may experience trauma, affecting their mental well-being and sense of security. Security officials must  ensure adequate police presence to to control crowds during  such  events. The security forces should investigate the Nairobi incidents and bring those responsible for theft and hooliganism to justice. Courts of law  should also impose strict penalties on offenders to prevent a repeat.
