Moses Kuria, a senior advisor in President William Ruto’s Council of Economic Advisors, has predicted the formation of a new political outfit ahead of the 2027 General Election.

Speaking on Sunday, November 10, 2024, Kuria explained that the new nationalist movement would be similar to the National Rainbow Coalition that soundly defeated former President Uhuru Kenyatta in 2022 to end KANU’s 24 years of uninterrupted rule under the late President Daniel Toroitich Arap Moi.

Without delving deeper into the details of the movement, Moses Kuria indicated that some political leaders would be left out of the new outfit.

The former Cabinet Secretary implied that the new movement would take a clean sweep in the next elections.

“Mimi nilikuwa nasomea hesabu. Kuna hesabu ingine nafanya na hiyo ni hesabu ya kisiasa. Mambo ya siasa sikosangi, nikikuambia bibi yako ni mjamzito anza kununua pampers. 2027, a new nationalist movement, same like the 2002 rainbow movement is loading. Na wale wako na akili waingie ndani kwa sababu kuna watu watalilia nje,”

(I studied mathematics. Right now, I am doing a different math and it is political. I never miss on political issues, If I tell you your wife is pregnant, start buying pampers. In 2027, a new nationalist movement, just like the Rainbow Movement in 2002 will be formed. Those with brains should join because there are people who will cry from outside),” Kuria stated.

Moses Kuria made the sentiments during Homa Bay Governor Glady Wanga’s thanksgiving ceremony which was attended by various Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leaders and African Union Commission chairperson candidate Raila Odinga.

Warning to Mt Kenya

Kuria’s remarks come days after he warned Mt Kenya regions against neglecting other regions. Kuria called on the Mt Kenya politicians and residents to coexist harmoniously with other communities insisting this is the only route to ensuring the region remains well represented in government heading into the future.

The former Public Service Cabinet Secretary while appearing to throw a subtle jab at the former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua warned that the region risks being isolated by the rest of the country if it subscribes to seclusionist politics.

“Our leaders should emphasize crafting winning formulas and not wasting time on strategies that are doomed to fail. As leaders, we are drivers of buses, which have some people hanging,” Kuria said.

“We should not be selfish and do things just to benefit us. We should be careful and not make the same mistakes we have made in the past,” Kuria added.
