President William Ruto on Friday attended the 60th anniversary celebrations of the union between the former Republic of Tanganyika and the People’s Republic of Zanzibar held in Dar es Salaam.

Ruto was accompanied by his wife First Lady Rachel Ruto, Prime Cabinet Secretary (CS) Musalia Mudavadi, Cabinet Secretaries Rebecca Miano (Investments, Trade and Industry ) and Peninnah Malonza (EAC, Arid and Semi-Arid Lands), among other officials.

The event hosted by Tanzania President Samia Suluhu was held at the Uhuru National Stadium in Dar es Salaam.

Other Heads if State such as Hakainde Hichilema (Zambia), Evariste Ndayishimiye, Azali Assoumani (Comoros), Nangolo Mbumba (Namibia), Hassan Sheikh Mohamud (Somalia), Felix Tshisekedi (DRC) and Hussein Ali Mwinyi (Zanzibar) also attended the event.

During the event, Ruto expressed the country’s commitment to strengthening the bilateral relations with Tanzania to foster socio-economic cooperation for shared prosperity.
