FKF PL Team of the Week: Gor Mahia, AFC Leopards guns missing as Tusker dominate
Gor Mahia and AFC Leopards failed to produce a single player for the Football Kenya Federation Premier League Week 18 team of the week.
Although Gor Mahia maintained their unbeaten record when they managed a win over Kariobangi Sharks, none of their players made it to the team.
AFC Leopards were also impressive since they got a win – their fourth of the season – when they downed Muhoroni Youth. Even though he was named the man of the match, Jaffary Owiti, the scorer of the only goal at the Raila Odinga Stadium, did not get a slot in the team of the week.
Tusker dominance
Meanwhile, Tusker had the majority of their players get into the week’s squad, with Levin Joseph, David Odoyo, Fabian Adikiny, and Erick Kapaito all nominated.
Kapaito has been a sensational striker this year, as he has developed into a dependable goal-scoring machine for the Brewers.
Joseph Ochuka was nominated for Bandari as the goalkeeper after yet another clean sheet against Kakamega Homeboyz.
Tusker’s Joseph was named the left-back after starring against Sofapaka, and he was also named the man of the match.
Ulinzi Stars’ Glen Wafula and Ian Omondi of FC Talanta are named as the centre-backs while Yusuf Mainge, a man of the match against Bidco United, is named as the right-back.
Justine Omwando, Shabana’s hero against Nzoia Sugar, who scored a hattrick, Odoyo, and Adikiny are named as the midfielders. Mathew Tegisi, who scored a brace for Shabana, was named as the left forward and City Stars’ Mohamed Bajaber as the right forward.
Erick Kapaitio, who has six goals and five assists, was nominated as the centre forward.
