Thirdway Alliance Party Leader Ekuru Aukot has expressed skepticism about President William Ruto’s confidence in winning the 2022 elections following the release of the National Dialogue Committee (NADCO) report.

The report, issued on Saturday, recommended an audit of the 2022 elections and proposed increasing the IEBC selection panel to nine members.

It also suggested the creation of State Offices, including the office of the leader of the opposition and the office of the Prime Cabinet Secretary.

In response, Aukot criticized the talks as “useless” and accused the report of mutilating the constitution by proposing the office of the opposition leader.

He argued that the recommendations undermined the Supreme Court ruling and implied that President Ruto lacked confidence in his election victory.

“The useless Boma bi-partisan talks and their useless NADCO report clearly mutilates the constitution by suggesting the office of the opposition leader, and they have agreed to undermine the Supreme Court verdict by agreeing to looking into the 2022 election. President William Ruto is clearly not confident he won the 2022 elections!” Aukot stated on his X account.

NADCO report reaction

The NADCO report has received criticism since its release with Martha Karua an Azimio Co- principal saying any deal that does not immediately impact the cost of living, electoral justice and multi-party democracy is a fraud and must be rejected.

Former Defence Cabinet Secretary Eugene Wamalwa also expressed his dissent to the National Dialogue Committee’s report.
