The United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party has embarked on a journey of strengthening its presence across the country following its merger with the Amani National Congress (ANC).

The ruling party, in a statement shared via social media on Saturday, January 18, 2025, announced that its Secretary General, Hassan Omar, had led the party’s management to a three-day marathon strategic meeting in Naivasha.

The meeting, according to UDA, is aimed at consolidating and finalizing departmental work plans aimed at enhancing efficiency in implementing its agenda.

“UDA Party has rolled out a robust strategy aimed at strengthening its presence across the country barely a day after merging with Amani National Congress. Secretary General Sen Hassan Omar led the party’s management to a three-day marathon strategic meeting in Naivasha to consolidate and finalize departmental work plans aimed at enhancing efficiency in implementing the party’s agenda,” the statement read in part.

Details of meeting

The party further revealed some of the details of the meeting that was attended by the immediate former officials of the Governor Issa Timamy-led ANC.

The retreat, UDA says, focused on aligning priorities, fostering collaboration, and defining actionable steps to strengthen the party’s operations.

ANC Executive Director Nicodemus Bore, National Executive Committee member Daniel Sambu, former ANC Executive Director Margaret Kamonya, and all the directors also attended the Naivasha meeting.

“The working retreat that was attended by immediate former officials of the ANC mainly focused on aligning priorities, fostering collaboration, and defining actionable steps to strengthen the party’s operations.

“Also in attendance were Executive Director Nicodemus Bore, National Executive Committee member Daniel Sambu, former ANC Executive Director Margaret Kamonya, and all the directors. The retreat, which came at a time of a merger between UDA and ANC, was critical to ensure a unified approach to achieving organizational goals,” UDA stated.

UDA-ANC merger

The ruling UDA party officially merged with Musalia Mudavadi’s ANC on Friday, January 17, 2025.

Speaking during the official ceremony at the State House, UDA National Chairperson Cecily Mbarire said the new party would see changes in its logo and symbols.

“The UDA party and the Amani National Congress have today merged as one, known as the UDA party; that is also going to change the name and the branding,” Mbarire said.

“The party has incorporated ANC identity symbols in the logo, imagery, and topography and shall resultantly undertake a myriad of other changes in the governance and operations of the party.”
