‘Uza shamba urudishie wazazi pesa yao’ – Sudi scolds Mandago over Finland scam
Kapseret Member of Parliament (MP) Oscar Sudi has called on Uasin Gishu senator Jackson Mandago to sell his land and raise money to repay victims of the Finland scandal.
While addressing a crowd on Saturday, August 26, 2023, Sudi expressed that he was disappointed with the leaders involved in the education scam and noted that they should hastily refund their victims.
Sudi also decried that it was unfair that the individuals mentioned in the scam were capable of duping their victims and taking away their hard-earned cash when they were already struggling with the harsh economic times.
“Hii maneno ya Finland si maneno ya mzaha ni ujinga. Wewe uuze shamba yako, mwengine auze ng’ombe…mwengine amechukua loan alafu kuna wajinga wanakula pesa ya wazazi na wanasema wanataka watetewe, hio haiwezekani. Hio pesa ya Finland ilikuliwa,” he stated.
He also opined that the leaders whose names had been mentioned were confirmed and that there was watertight evidence to prove that money had been withdrawn from the accounts.
Further, the lawmaker urged Mandago to sell his land and raise the money to refund all the victims affected. He also reiterated that the government will ensure that the victims of the scandal are well compensated by their oppressors.
“Pesa ya mtu mwenye ameuza ng’ombe, mali yake ama kuchukua loan, lazima ilipwe. Dawa ya deni ni kulipa. Mandago anafaa kuacha mzaha na alipe hio hio pesa. Anapaswa auze shamba alipe hio pesa kwa sababu kila mtu mwenye ametajwa kwa hio maneno ya Finland ako na pesa, si maskini. Mkitaka ukweli tutawaletea. Pesa lazima ilipwe,” Sudi added.
Similarly, Sudi asked the individuals involved in the saga to quit playing the tribal card to seek sympathy from Kenyans and their allies.
The MP stressed that those implicated in the scam must plead guilty and apologise to their victims.
“Do not steal people’s money; when justice is followed, you start playing the tribal card. When you were stealing, did you forget the people? I am asking those in the Finland saga to repay the money. People sold their land, animals, and properties, and others borrowed loans. Then, when they asked for their money, you started playing the tribal card,” Sudi said.
Additionally, Sudi urged all leaders to be careful when handling money belonging to the citizens. He also encouraged them to work together for the people and deliver on their mandated roles.
