President-elect William Ruto on Thursday, August 25, pledged to work with Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja to accelerate development in Kenya’s capital.

Speaking during his swearing-in ceremony held at Kenyatta International Conference Centre (KICC), Ruto assured the governor that he will offer his support and guidance for the goodwill of the people of Nairobi.

The Kenya Kwanza leader additionally underscored that his administration will provide the needed support to ensure that the developments catered toward improving the lives of the county residents are implemented.

“I want to tell you my friend and brother that we will work with you, we have confidence in you, we are proud of you and we know that the city of Nairobi has the best it can get in terms of the governor,” Ruto stated.

While reassuring Sakaja that he will stand firmly behind him, the outgoing DP additionally singled out the implementation of projects that will help foster development in the county and create more job opportunities.

“I will be available to consult…you know the commitments we have made to the people of Nairobi concerning infrastructure… collection and management of garbage, transport for the people of Nairobi… and you know my brother the commitment we have made in making sure that every hustle in the city of Nairobi counts, I will b on hand to support you,” Ruto added.

Sakaja was sworn is as Nairobi’s Governor days after he won the just-concluded election.

Sakaja who was running on a United Democratic Alliance (UDA) ticket garnered 699,392 votes trouncing his arch-rival Polycarp Igathe who had 573,516 votes.
