Reaction to state appointments

Reactions to former nominated senator Millicent Omanga’s and former Public Service Cabinet Secretary (CS) Aisha Jumwa’s state appointments are among the top news items expected to dominate headlines today. 

Jumwa was appointed as the chairperson for the Kenya Roads Boards in an update confirmed by President William Ruto on Friday, January 17, 2025. 

The former CS now replaces Ahmed Kolosh and is expected to serve in the position for three years.

“In exercise of the powers conferred by section 7 (1) (a) of the Kenya Roads Board Act, as read together with section 51 (1) of the Interpretation and General Provisions Act. I, William Samoei Ruto, President of the Republic of Kenya and Commander-in-Chief of the Defence Forces, appoint- Aisha Jumwa Katana to be the non-executive Chairperson of the Kenya Roads Board, for a period of three (3) years, with effect from the 17th January, 2025,” the gazette notice shared read in part.

“The appointment of Ahmed Kolosh Mohamed is revoked.”

Similarly Omanga landed a job as a member of the board of directors at Kenya Shipyards Limited. 

She was named to the new position by Defense CS Soipan Tuya.
