With 52 days remaining before the start of 2022 Commonwealth Games, the 3×3 wheelchair basketball team which is currently training at Kasarani Stadium is optimistic about putting on a good show and possibly making it to the podium during the Club Games.

National Coach Andrew Kihumba shared the progress the team has made since they went for their qualification match in South Africa in November last 2021 where the team emerged runners-up after beating DRC, Gambia, and Tanzania.

“The team has greatly improved from our performance in South Africa during the qualifications and we are just working to get better each day. We will push ourselves and do the best we can to make it to the medal bracket or near it” said Kihumba.

Kihumba expressed his elation on the aspect of athletes and teams reporting to camp early adding that it gives them ample time to prepare adequately for the Games.

“We are grateful to the Ministry of Sports and National Olympic Committee of Kenya for making the facilities available to us in good time and we are happy with how everything is being handled here” added Kihumba.
