Eight-time Kenya Cup champions KCB RFC will welcome Nakuru RFC to the KCB Sports Club, Ruaraka, today in a highly anticipated round five fixture of the 2024/2025 Kenya Cup campaign.

The Bankers, who sit atop the table with 20 points, will be gunning for their fifth consecutive win in what has been a blistering start to the season.

Despite their dominant form, head coach Oliver “Olishe” Mang’eni remains cautious of the threat posed by Nakuru’s agility, physicality, and aggressive style of play.

“We know for sure that Nakuru will come at us in the strongest ways possible,” Mang’eni said. “We need to be on top of our game and maintain concentration throughout the match to stay at bay. We are having an excellent run of games but we need to improve in certain areas especially our defence and attack. I trust my players and I am certain we are ready for the duel.”

Mang’eni, who took over after Curtis Olago’s departure last year, is likely to retain the core of the squad that dismantled Mwamba 88-02 last weekend.

Key players such as Elvis Namusasi, Austin Sikutwa and Levy Amunga are expected to start, with Bob Muhati, Emmanuel Silungi, Jack Adero and Laban Kipsang also set to feature prominently.

However, KCB will be without several experienced players, including Vincent Onyala, Samuel Asati, Floyd Wabwire and Festus Shiasi, who have joined the national team for the upcoming Perth 7s in Australia.

As the league leaders, KCB are enjoying a commanding 12-point advantage over second-placed Kabras Sugar, with Menengai Oilers and Kenya Harlequin completing the top four.
