Gor Mahia interim head coach Zedekiah ‘Zico’ Otieno is confident that the club will clinch a season double.

Gor Mahia are among the Football Kenya Federation Premier League title contenders and are also in the final of the FKF Cup after beating Murang’a Seal 5-4 in post-match penalties.

“Our ambitions for the cup double are not yet done as others perceived it. We are still on course. It’s all in our hands.

“We must win our remaining matches, and that’s a challenge we’ve vowed to take head-on,” Zico said, as quoted by a local publication.

Against Murang’a Seal, K’Ogalo had to sweat to ensure they advanced, and Zico praised the character and mental toughness of his players.

“It was a tough match, as expected in a semi-final. But I must commend the character of my players—that’s what won us the match.

“We responded well after conceding early, showed great composure to take the lead, and handled the pressure well when it mattered most,” he added.

The Premier League title looks tight for Gor Mahia, as Kenya Police lead with 61 points, and Tusker are second with 55 points and have played the same number of games as the league leaders. Both have played 32 games.

Meanwhile, Gor Mahia are third with 54 points from 31 games. However, their experience and quality give no one room to doubt their ability to shock the title competitors and win a record 22nd title.
