Ryan Njuguna and Ashley Gachora outclassed their peers at the Royal Nairobi Golf Club to reignite the NCBA US Kids Golf Spring Tour title race ahead of the decisive championship round set for May 25 at Muthaiga Golf Club.

Njuguna was in inspired form, carding a one-under-par 71 to win the boys’ 12-year-old category. The victory, which, according to him, was built on precision and composure, lifted him to fifth place in the overall standings and kept his title hopes alive with double points on offer in the season finale.

His round began with a bogey on the first hole, but he recovered swiftly, playing level par for the rest of the front nine.

On the back nine, Njuguna picked up birdies at holes 13 and 17 while maintaining steady form through the remaining holes. He credited the win to his caddie, praising her guidance on the greens.

“The day was good and I played really well. All my shots were consistent, and I won today because of my caddie; she helped me a lot, especially with the lines,” Njuguna said.

“Hole 10 and 17 were the turning point for me. I made a great save on 10 and a solid birdie on 17.”

Championship leader Shuhan Peng, who finished second at Royal with a score of 73, remains atop the boys’ leaderboard with 160 points, while Adam Nesbitt, who shot 79 for third place, holds second position with 140 points.

The trio is expected to headline a tight battle at Muthaiga.

In the girls’ 11–12 category, Ashley Gachora (caddied by her father John Gachora) produced a composed round of 75 to take top honours and shake up the leaderboard.
