Gor Mahia Chief Executive Officer Raymond Oruo has revealed that Benson Omala might not feature in the upcoming Football Kenya Federation (FKFPL) clash against AFC Leopards.

Oruo said that K’Ogalo have not yet received clearance for the former Kisumu Day striker to feature for them.

“No clearance yet. The matter has been referred to FIFA player status,” Oruo said as quoted by a local publication.

Omala rejoined the FKF PL side and has been training with them since he left Lebanese Premier League side Safa SC.

Omala left for Lebanon after a superb outing with Gor Mahia, but his stint in the Middle East country did not turn out as expected after he suffered an injury. Security concern was also an issue that influenced his return to the country last year.

He was linked to a number of clubs, but he finally rejoined his former teammates at K’Ogalo. He is yet to feature for them, though, as he is yet to get an International Transfer Certificate (ITC) clearance.

Gor Mahia fans were hoping to see Omala feature against their arch-rivals in the Mashemeji Derby set for Sunday, March 30, at Nyayo Stadium.

K’Ogalo are third with 42 and aim for another win over AFC Leopards. Ingwe, on the other hand, are fifth with 36 points to their name.

The Mashemeji Derby will kick off at 6:00 pm.
