Tusker captain Charles Momanyi has urged his squad to complete the remaining league games on a strong note, despite not competing for a trophy.

Tusker head into the season homestretch second in the FKFPL standings, 11 points behind champions Gor Mahia and five ahead of third-place Police FC. With the league title already secured by Gor Mahia, the best result the Brewers can achieve from the remaining matches is a second-place finish.

Momanyi has acknowledged the team’s disappointment at missing out on the cup title but emphasized the importance of finishing the league strongly.

“It hasn’t been an easy season for us, of course, because we have not won any trophy, and that is a very big issue for a team such as Tusker FC. We have picked our lessons and hopefully, we will come back stronger next season,” said Momanyi.

“We still have three more matches to play, and we need to win all of them and finish in the highest position possible. It will not be easy because they are tough teams, but we have what it takes to get good results.”

Tusker final matches

Tusker resumes league action at home, welcoming fourth-placed Bandari to the Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos. They will then visit Posta Rangers before closing their season at the Ruaraka Grounds against Kakamega Homeboyz.

The Brewers will look to maintain their momentum, having registered a five-match unbeaten run before the league took a break to pave the way for international matches.

The Ruaraka-based outfit has won all three friendly matches staged during the break to keep their competitive edge. They secured victories over premier league sides Sofapaka 1-0 and Murang’a Seal 2-1, while a James Kibande double led them to a 4-0 win over Division Two side Kitengela FC.

Tusker missed out on every trophy on offer this season, including a chance at continental football, as they were eliminated from the FKF Cup in a 1-0 loss to Kakamega Homeboyz at the Bukhungu Stadium.
