Tim Wanyonyi hails Kipyegon after 3000m Silesia Diamond League victory
Westlands MP Tim Wanyonyi has congratulated Faith Kipyegon following her spectacular 3000m victory at the Silesia Diamond League, calling it yet another outstanding achievement for Kenya.
In a statement posted on his X account on Saturday, August 16, 2025, Wanyonyi praised Kipyegon’s outstanding performance in Poland, expressing national pride in her accomplishments.
“Congratulations to Faith Kipyegon on yet another incredible 3000m victory at the Silesia Diamond League! Kenya is proud of you,” Wanyonyi stated in his post.

Record-breaking performance
Kipyegon delivered a sensational performance at the Silesia Diamond League on Saturday, August 16, 2025, in Chorzów, Poland, where she dominated the women’s 3000m race.
The three-time Olympic champion stormed to victory with an impressive time of 8:07.04, showcasing her extraordinary running abilities.

At 31 years old, Kipyegon’s time brought her tantalizingly close to the world record, finishing just one second shy of the long-standing global mark of 8:06.11, set by China’s Junxia Wang in 1993, which has stood for over three decades.
Inspiration to other athletes
Wanyonyi’s congratulatory message came just hours after Moses Masika Wetang’ula, Speaker of the National Assembly, also praised Kipyegon’s performance at the Silesia Diamond League.
In his statement on X, Wetang’ula described Kipyegon’s performance as phenomenal and inspiring for emerging athletes.
“What a night in Silesia! Watching Faith Kipyegon storm through the women’s 3000m was nothing short of breathtaking. She didn’t just win, she owned the track. To deliver the second-fastest time in history, rewrite the African record, smash the Diamond League record, and clock the world lead all in one race was pure magic,” Wetang’ula’s statement read in part.
“Faith isn’t just running; she’s redefining what greatness looks like, and I felt proud just to witness it,” the speaker added.
