Thethy rules the roost at Shell Autocross

Rajveer Thethy stole the show at the second round of the Shell Autocross Championship in Kiambu County, clocking the fastest time of the day at 06:14 after three thrilling heats.
The 300-acre Twisty 2 Track Circuit was a hive of activity as over 40 drivers battled for top honours, with hundreds of motorsport fans turning up to witness the high-octane action.
Harpreet Singh Bhogai triumphed in the 2WD turbo buggy category, while Neel Gohil secured victory in the open class.
Jose Sardinia clinched the 4WD non-turbo class, and the junior categories saw Cheche Ababa (Cadet Junior), Alan Bengi (Beta Junior), and Sean Njumbi (Alpha Junior) emerge victorious.
Beyond the competition, the event delivered a major boost to Kenyan motorsport. Vivo Energy Kenya Managing Director Peter Murungi reaffirmed the company’s unwavering commitment to the 2025 Autocross Championship, highlighting Shell’s 75-year global legacy in motorsport.
“We are dedicated to fostering talent and reviving the success of legends like Joginder Singh and Shekhar Mehta,” said Murungi.
Clerk of Course Mindo Gatimu hailed the event’s success, citing the new race format and increased participation as proof of autocross’s growing popularity in Kenya.
