Thethy, Duncan dazzle in Shell Autocross Championship round

Rajveer Thethy and Ian Duncan delivered standout performances as the latest round of the 2025 Shell Autocross Championship unfolded at the demanding Autocross Plus circuit in Kiambu County.

Motorsport fans were treated to intense racing action, with over 40 crews battling for top honours on both the 1.9km and 5.9km tracks.

The competition saw Thethy dominate the 4WD Turbo Class, edging out Harpreet Singh and Amaan Ganatra in a fiercely contested race.

Veteran rally ace Duncan, a household name in Kenyan motorsport, showcased his enduring prowess by clinching victory in the 2WD-T Buggy Class with a time of 0:20:16.400.

Other category winners included Abid Ganatra (4WD Non-Turbo), Altaf Ganatra (2WD Non-Turbo Senior), and Neel Gohil (Open Class).
The high-octane event, organised by +254 Motorsport Club, attracted hundreds of spectators who lined the circuits to witness breathtaking action across various categories.

The championship also reaffirmed its commitment to nurturing young talent, with junior racers such as Cheche Ababu (Cadet Junior Buggy) and Allan Bengi (Beta Junior) delivering remarkable performances.

At the awards ceremony, Vivo Energy Kenya’s Commercial Manager Mark Senteu, praised the competitors for their skill and determination, highlighting the role of the championship in fostering future motorsport stars.

He also acknowledged the contributions of past and present figures, including former Sports CS Ababu Namwamba, in championing young talent.

He stated, “We are honoured to have a leader who, during his tenure as CS for Sports, inspired countless young Kenyans to harness their abilities.

His ‘Talanta Hela’ initiative still runs deep in our veins, shaping the next generation of champions. We will continue to walk the path of greatness that you charted.”

The 2025 Shell Autocross Championship will continue with five more rounds, culminating in a season finale where the best drivers across all divisions will be crowned.
