Kenya’s dream of qualifying for the World Cup has received a huge boost after the federation announced free entry for fans when the U17 side plays host to Burundi.

Kenya will play Burundi on Sunday, June 16, 2024, at the Ulinzi Sports Complex, Nairobi in the second leg of the fourth round of the 2024 Women’s FIFA U17 World Cup qualifiers.

Starlets who head into the clash with a three-goal advantage from their first-leg clash in Ethiopia will be buoyed by massive home support after a decision by the federation to strike off gate charges.

The move is expected to pull in a huge crowd who will expect to witness the team make history as the first Kenyan football team to ever qualify for the World Cup.

Starlets advantage

Two first-half strikes from Lorna Faith and Marion Serenge and a second-half Susan Okoth goal were enough to give the Starlets a three-goal advantage at the Abebe Bikila Stadium in Addis Ababa.

Coupled with home support, Starlets who are still in camp ahead of the clash look comfortably placed to finish off the job.

Junior Starlets will book a place in the U17 World Cup slated for the Dominican Republic this October if they maintain their aggregate lead at the end of proceedings on Sunday.
