Sports CS announces entry charges for CHAN matches in Kenya
With preparations for the CHAN tournament now in top gear and the games just around the corner, Sports Cabinet Secretary Salim Mvurya has announced the official ticket prices for Kenyans who wish to attend the matches.
Speaking during a joint press briefing with Interior CS Kipchumba Murkomen on Monday, July 14, 2025, who also provided an update on security arrangements ahead of the competition, Mvurya stated that tickets will be sold in three categories: Ksh200, Ksh500, and Ksh1,000.
He confirmed that all tickets will be available online to ease access and avoid overcrowding at venues.

“Unaweza kutafuta tiketi yako kwa simu yako, kwa sababu utatumia tu mtandao, tiketi itakuwa Ksh200, 500 na 1000. Ili kuzingatia ya kwamba wakenya wengi wapate nafsi ya kutazama mechi hiyo” Mvurya said.
The Sports CS emphasised that the pricing was deliberately set at affordable rates to ensure that every Kenyan has an opportunity to watch the matches and support local teams. He noted that this move aims to boost attendance and foster national pride.
Mvurya also called on Kenyans to demonstrate patriotism by turning out in large numbers to support national teams, including Harambee Stars, who will be participating in the tournament.
Security preparations
In the same presser, Interior and National Administration Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen has revealed elaborate security measures in place ahead of the CHAN tournament set to be hosted jointly with Uganda and Tanzania from August 2, 2025.

Murkomen indicated that elaborate security measures were in place right from the airport, hotels, stadia, and tourist sites in the country.
“We want to assure the country that we have put in place elaborate security measures to ensure that our visitors arrive at the airport properly,” Murkomen noted.
Airport security
“They (visitors) are going to be facilitated at the airport; as you all know, all African countries have an exemption from Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA). Entrance into the country does not require any kind of visa, so we are going to have as many visitors as possible being facilitated throughout our airport.”
