Three tries in the first half and a further five in the second half proved more than enough for Spain to
see off hosts Kenya U20 48-18 in the second round of the world rugby U20 Trophy at the Nyayo Stadium.

Chipu began the clash on the front foot, needing under eight minutes for hooker George Otieno to burge
over the whitewash from the back of the maul. Faran Juma added the extra twos for a 7-0 lead earlier
on.

Kenya U20 concede

A 19th-minute knock-on from winger Victor Odiambo while trying to receive the ball under pressure set
Chipu is on a slippery slope.

First conceding a penalty which allowed Spain to find touch barely 10 meters out of striking distance. The Spaniards, always posing danger on the run, then swung the ball wide to score in the corner, levelling up scores with the extra twos.

Kenya replied immediately from the kick-off, the ball bouncing deep in the Spanish 22 before finding
touch. A string of strong carries from the forwards gifted Chipu their second try to retake the lead through Geylord Ngasi.

The hosts then shot themselves in the foot as they turned over possession after an attempted clearance
from their own 22 went dead.

The Spaniards were sharp on the ball and then played left before swinging it right to score as Chipu ran out of cover once again. The game is now 12 all heading into the half-hour mark.

Spain beat Chipu

Spain got another try in an almost similar version, putting the ball behind the Chipu backline, forcing the
fullback to make a short clearance kick. The forwards then made no mistake from the resulting mall,
shoving their way over for Spain to take the lead for the first time in the clash.

Chipu then cut the deficit to two points with five minutes of the first half remaining. Scores now 17-15.
Both teams then missed scoring chances to mark the end of a closely contested first stanza.

It was the hosts who found themselves on the back foot at the start of the second period. Spain
unloaded salvo on the Chipu defence who stood steady forcing two errors from the Spaniards. Spain
then won a Kenyan scrum before finding touch just outside the five. A maul later and Spain were in for
their fourth try in the opening five minutes.

Spain were starting to dominate the fixture and two missed chances in a five-minute span was
testament to that. Their dominance then paid off as Kenya ran out of bodies to soak in the fifth try. A
successful conversion took the scores to 31-15.

Three more tries sealed a 48-15 win for Spain against a largely laid-back Kenyan attack in the second
half.
