Shabana’s survival campaign received a major boost following a 4-3 Football Kenya Federation Premier League victory over AFC Leopards at Raila Odinga Stadium in Homa Bay on Saturday, June 15, 2024.

Tore Bobe are now 15th on the log and are four points clear of the danger zone, even though their status in the Premier League next season is not entirely sealed. Ingwe are now seventh following the defeat, and their hope of finishing in the top five bracket was dealt a blow.

Meanwhile, the 2022/23 National Super League champions opened the score in the 18th minute following a goal scored by Prince Ayieko. The scorer did well to connect to a set piece delivered by Samuel Maiko to head home and break the deadlock.

Arthur Gitego, who has been a dependable goal scorer for Ingwe, equalized in the 24th minute. The goal credit should go to Victor Omune, who did well to beat his opponents to deliver the key pass.

Omune would later score the second goal for the away side when he launched a powerful strike that Shabana‘s goalkeeper could not keep out. However, Alvin Ochieng equalized in favour of Shabana just before the break.

Joseph Odhiambo, in Shabana’s goal, made a crucial save that denied Musa Oundo a goal. Ggitego and Oundo collaborated in a brilliant manner before the latter struck, but his shot could not land at the back of the net.

Tore Bobe struck the third goal 10 minutes after the second half had started when Maiko scored. 

Ingwe kept fighting and grabbed the equaliser when Lewis Bandi found Oundo with a neat pass, but Odhiambo, again, almost denied the AFC Leopards man a clear chance to score. Odhiambo was unable to keep the ball away as he fumbled and eventually saw the ball roll into the net.

Shabana scored the winning goal five minutes before the end of regulation time through Bryan Michira.
