Safari Sevens: Team Kenya record mixed results ahead of quarters

It was tough luck for Kenya’s contingent at the 2021 Safari Sevens as they registered mixed results in their day one fixtures played at the Nyayo National Stadium.
Shujaa, placed in Pool A against Zimbabwe, Germany and Stallion Sevens bagged a 60-0 win against Stallions in their opening fixture, lost to Germany 14-12 in the second round before closing the day with a win over Zimbabwe, 26-5.
Defending champions Morans who were placed in Pool B alongside Spain, Uganda and KCB; lost 0-24 to Uganda, picked a 12-12 draw with KCB and won their final pool game 31-21 against Spain
As for Chipu 7s, it was a day without luck as they lost all their pool fixtures, 7-38 to Samurai Sevens, 22-21 to South Africa, All Stars Academy Sevens and 17-7 to Red Wailers.
Zimbawe Cheetahs got their first win of the campaign, beating Stallion 7s Nigeria 40-0. Godfrey Magaramombe, Munesu Muneta, Shingirai Katsevere and Jerry Jaravaza were among the try scorers. Ryan Musumhi booted four conversions.
Uganda also booked their ticket for the cup quarters, thrashing Spain 19-10.
On the same breath, Kenya Lionesses and Lionesses II had a decent first day, collecting wins over their opponents, with the only loss to Lioness II being courtesy of their seniors in the opening round of the women’s category.
Kenya Lioness continued with their fine form as they went on to beat Titans Women Academy 38-7 in their second match.
