Even though it’s a bit early to make a bold proclamation, Royal Starlets and Solasa Stima Queens are convinced that they are on course to fulfil their dreams of earning a promotion to the FKF Women Premier League.

The duo belief comes in the wake of recording vital victories over former premiership sides Nyuki Starlets and Eldoret Falcons at the weekend.

Sharon Mato grabbed a brace in the match to inspire Royal past Nyuki Starlets 2-0. Coach David Oduor said rain disrupted the tempo of the game, but he’s happy to get the win against Nyuki.

“The game flow was greatly affected by the rains even though we had expected a tough duel and prepared well. We thank God for the victory and the three points,” coach Oduor said.

Stacey Wanyonyi and Anda Levenda scored a goal apiece to help Solasa beat Falcons 2-1 with Rosemary Akinyi giving Falcons a consolation goal.

“It was a very tough match but a good one at the same time. It’s the girls’ determination, hard work and listening to instructions. Then preparation was good, and that’s what won us the match,” delighted Ochieng said.

The wins saw both teams go joint top with 13 points after playing seven matches and are the only two teams in the league that have lost only one match each in Zone B.

In the other matches, Zared Timona scored a hat trick as newcomers Bungoma Queens beat another premiership side Oserian Ladies 3-0.

“The game was very tough. Oserian is a very good team but I managed to stop them. They have good strikers but because of the firm backline of my team, they didn’t manage to score,” Bungoma Queen’s coach Jairus Misiko quipped.
