After eight rounds of the FKF Premier League, Posta Rangers’ goalkeeper John Njau has established a commanding lead in the race for the Golden Glove, awarded to the league’s top goalkeeper.

Njau’s exceptional performance this season is highlighted by his astonishing record of conceding only four goals in eight matches. He has managed an impressive six clean sheets in the league.

Posta Rangers’ clean sheets have been achieved in matches against Bidco United on the first day of the season, Kenya Police FC on day two, and Njau maintained three consecutive clean sheets against Murang’a Seal, Kariobangi Sharks, before conceding against FC Talanta. Hs sixth clean sheet was secured against Bandari FC.

Murang’a Seal’s goalkeeper, Bonphas Munyasa, is another strong contender in the race for the Golden Glove, having kept five clean sheets in this campaign. He went without conceding in three consecutive matches prior to the Muhoroni Youth match and has only let in three goals this season.

Brian Bwire of Tusker and Harambee Stars, as well as Kevin Omondi and Joseph Ochuka of Gor Mahia, have also recorded four clean sheets each.

Several other goalkeepers, including Byrne Omondi, Patric Matasi, Bernard Jairo, John Otieno, and Stephen Ocheing, have accumulated three clean sheets each in the FKF Premier League this season

In the eighth week of the FKF Premier League campaign, a total of 18 goals were scored, and seven clean sheets were recorded.

Posta Rangers top

Posta Rangers, with their 2-0 victory over Bandari FC, returned to the winning column, maintaining their top spot in the FKF Premier League. Their impressive performance has earned them 19 points from six wins in eight matches, making them the top goal-scorers with 13 goals.

Gor Mahia FC, who played to a goalless draw against Bidco United at Kasarani Stadium, stayed in second place, having failed to score in a league match for the first time this season. They now have a total of 16 points.

KCB had a standout performance with a 4-1 victory over Nairobi City Stars, elevating them to the third position with 15 points. Their attacking prowess has made them the second-highest goal scorer in the league with 12 goals

Muranga Seal continues to impress with their strong defensive record, having conceded only three goals in eight league matches. Their second consecutive win of the season helped them accumulate 14 points.

Kariobangi Sharks secured a 1-0 victory over Kakamega Homeboyz, reaching a total of 12 points with three wins and three draws in eight matches.

Several teams are closely matched with 11 points, including Bidco United, Talanta, Tusker FC, and Kakamega Homeboyz. Each of these teams has shown their mettle in various ways.

Three teams have accumulated 10 points in the campaign, namely Ulinzi Stars, Kenya Police, and Bandari, making the FKF Premier League a closely contested competition.

However, Nairobi City Stars sit in the 13th position with nine points from eight matches, having conceded the most goals (14) after a 4-1 loss to KCB.

Muhoroni finds themselves in the 14th position with eight points, while AFC Leopards, who recently secured a 1-0 victory over Nzoia Sugar, have moved to seven points, escaping the relegation zone.

Shabana also have seven points but has experienced three losses during the season. In the relegation zone, Nzoia Sugar have five points after enduring their fifth consecutive loss, and Sofapaka remain at the bottom of the table after suffering their fourth loss of the season.
