Football Kenya Federation Premier League champions Kenya Police FC have been officially confirmed as one of the 12 elite clubs set to compete in the 2025 CECAFA Kagame Cup, scheduled for September 2 to 15 in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.

In a statement shared on Tuesday via their official X platform, the club announced, “The Council of East and Central Africa Football Associations (CECAFA) has confirmed that we are among the 12 teams set to participate in the 2025 CECAFA Kagame Cup, scheduled for September 2–15 in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.”

The regional showpiece will provide the perfect pre-season stage for Kenya Police, who are gearing up for their first-ever CAF Champions League appearance later this year.

After a busy transfer window that saw key exits and fresh additions, the law enforcers are expected to use the Kagame Cup to fine-tune their squad and tactics ahead of the continental assignment.

Kenya Police will join top clubs from across East and Central Africa in the competition, including Uganda’s Vipers SC, Rwanda’s APR FC, Burundi’s Aigle Noir, South Sudanese side El Merriekh SC Bentiu, and Tanzanian giants Simba SC and Young Africans SC.

The host country will field two clubs, adding to the intensity of the tournament.

Last year’s Kagame Cup was clinched by Zambia’s Red Arrows, who beat APR FC in the final. Kenyan representatives Gor Mahia, who also featured in that edition, had a tough outing and exited at the group stage.

With the 2025 edition promising stiffer competition and higher stakes, Kenya Police will be hoping for a stronger showing. The club, buoyed by their recent FKF Premier League triumph, is keen to assert itself as a regional powerhouse and a serious contender in the CAF scene.

As the countdown begins, focus now shifts to Dar es Salaam, where the blue-clad squad will seek to make history on CECAFA’s biggest stage.
