Police FC part ways with 5 players ahead of new season

The mass exodus reported at Police FC promises to reshape the squad ahead of the new season that features continental football for the local champions.
In an official communication, the side has released five players who played varying roles in the club’s recent success, including helping the side clinch the team’s first-ever FKF Premier League title.
Key departures
Striker David Irishura, known for his work rate and versatility upfront, is the latest to cut links with Police. “We can confirm that striker David Irishura has left the club. We thank him for his contribution and wish him all the best in his future endeavours,” the club announced on Tuesday, August 4, 2025.
Also, midfielder Francis Kahata has left the club, a seasoned playmaker with a decorated career in Kenyan football. Kenya Police FC described him as “a calm presence, technically gifted, and a respected figure in the dressing room.” The club expressed gratitude for his time and wished him well in the next chapter of his football journey.

Midfielder Tim Oyanda, who joined the team during the second phase of last season and contributed to their title-winning campaign, has also parted ways with the champions. “He departs as a league winner,” read the club’s statement.
After two seasons of entertaining football, Tyson Otieno has also ended his tenure at the club. “A skillful midfielder, Tyson dazzled with his creativity and finesse, leaving a mark on fans and rivals alike,” the statement read.
Rounding off the list of departures is Duncan Otieno, who concludes his second stint with the club. Otieno’s general dedication and experience were instrumental during his time with the team. “We thank the midfielder for his commitment and contribution to the club,” the club noted.
The exits mark an important shift in Kenya Police FC’s squad dynamics as they look to rebuild and reinforce ahead of a highly competitive season, including CAF Champions League commitments. With key players moving on, all eyes will be on how head coach Etienne Ndayiragije and the club’s technical bench approach the transfer market and squad restructure.
