Owalo unveils plans to position Gor Mahia Youth as senior team’s main feeder
Newly appointed Gor Mahia patron Eliud Owalo has unveiled an ambitious plan to revamp the Gor Mahia youth team and position it as the main feeder club of the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Premier League side.
Speaking to a local TV station on Saturday, November 1, 2025, Owalo noted that such a move would spare the club the financial burden of signing players and boost its sustainability models.
Sustainability
“We must have a feeder system. We need to support our youth system at all stages and age sets to make it a sustainable feeder of our senior teams,” he stated.
Owalo has described the move as an informed, sustainable venture that will see K’Ogalo.
“Players are very expensive; there is no point in buying players from other clubs when we can generate them from our feeder system, and it is what we are doing for the purpose of sustainability so that we can strengthen the team every year,” he posited.
Owalo’s sentiments come as the club has a history of roping in high-profile foreign players who have mostly not lived up to the billing and ended up flopping.
A recent case involved the acquisition of the Ghanaian duo of Ebenezer Adukwaw and George Amoonno, whose transfer to Gor Mahia at the start of the season raised eyebrows among a section of Gor Mahia fans.

Meanwhile, Charles Akonnor’s charges are showing tremendous improvement on the pitch after a stuttering start to the season. K’Ogalo, who opened their campaign on a false start against Bidco United, have shrugged off the loss to bag their fourth consecutive league victory in their previous clash against Mathare United.
FKF PL
Heading to November 2, 2025, round seven games, Gor Mahia is on the cusp of hitting the league summit when they face struggling Ulinzi Stars at the Kasarani Stadium, starting at 4:00 pm.
The record Kenyan champions will feature in an action-packed schedule of seven ties.
League leaders Kakamega Homeboyz will take on resurgent Tusker at Bukhungu Stadium at 2:00 pm, while Bidco United hosts APS Bomet at the Kasarani Annex at the same time.
At 3:00 pm, defending champions Kenya Police will clash with Sammy (Pamzo) Omollo’s Posta Rangers at the Police Sacco Stadium, a fixture that could see the Police side unleash their arsenal after bowing out of the CAF Champions League preliminaries.
