Tusker FC has confirmed the acquisition of Luke Namanda who returns to the club after stints abroad and locally with Kenya Premier League (KPL) sides.

The club took to its social media pages to confirm the arrival of the offensive unit, having thrown a hint of a possible signing since Monday, February 25 2025.

“Ladies and gentlemen, join us in welcoming back winger Luke Namanda who returns to Ruaraka after a stint with AFC Leopards,” Tusker FC update read.

Namanda has previously featured for Nzoia Sugar, a side he helped gain promotion to the Kenyan Premier League a while back, and AFC Leopards.

He left the country in 2021 to join Rwandese side Musanze FC then under the tutelage of Kenyan trainer Frank Ouna.

Ugandans parallel moves

The move lasted for two seasons with the player returning back to the country in July 2023.

“We are delighted to welcome Luke back to Tusker FC,” Tusker FC’s head coach Charles Okere said.

“He’s a player with great potential, and his previous experience with us will be valuable. We believe his addition will give us a boost as we continue to push for success in the league and other competitions.”

“It feels great to be back at Tusker FC. I’ve always felt at home here, and I’m looking forward to helping the team achieve our goals. When I left here, I left as a league champion. I am coming back and I am hopeful I can return with the same touch and win trophies. I can’t wait to get started and give my best for the fans and the club.” the player said.

Namanda’s transfer comes barely hours after Charles Okere’s team announced the ending association with Ugandan John Byamukama.

According to the club the winger and the club resolved to go separate ways.

“Byamukama has been with the club for two seasons, and during his time with the team, made significant contributions both on and off the pitch, and we are grateful for the dedication he showed during his tenure with us. We wish John all the best in his future endeavours and are confident that he will continue to excel in his career. He will always be a part of the Tusker FC family, and we thank him for his time with us,” part of the club’s statement said.

The exit also follows the arrival of another Ugandan Dennis Iguma joined the club for the 2025 KPL’s second-half run.

The 13-time league champions are among the front runners for the KPL title this season sitting in second place position in the 18-team table.

The side is also in the Football Kenya Federation Cup second round where they are set to face Nairobi United in the round of 16 tie.
