NSL top-scorer reveals trophy ambitions after Tusker move

Tusker FC’s new signing Ian Simiyu is determined to clinch the Kenyan Premier League title with his new outfit.
The attacker is the club’s recent entrant as part of a mid-season bolstering for the second-half season. Simiyu, who enjoyed an impressive run with Nzoia Sugar prompting his switch to the KPL side, maintains that he has a single focus of leading the hunt for the title.

“Im here happy to join Tusker FC. Expect more before the league ends. We are ready for this title we are winning this title,” he said.
On his part, Luke Namanda also revealed his target on his return to the team.
“I’m happy to return here. At Tusker this is a team of trophies. I am hopeful we are going to do it this season too. We are determined to fight for the trophies; the cup and the main trophy,” Namanda told the club media site.
The pair are expected to as Brewers ramp up efforts for a league in the season. The is second placed on the log and showing signs of an early push for the title alongside leaders Police FC.
Potent attacker
Simiyu’s addition portends good tidings for the Tusker’s offensive plans if his form is anything to go by.
The striker joins the club after a stellar half-season in the National Super League, where he was the competition’s top scorer, netting 13 goals and providing six assists.
The 22-year-old winger, an alumnus of St Anthony Boys Kitale, is also acclaimed for his versatility.
He can feature as both from the flanks or as a creative hub behind the main striker.
On his part, Namanda comes having enjoyed stints in Rwanda and AFC Leopards. The pacey attacker is expected to add impetus to the Ruaraka-based club.
Namanda has previously featured for Nzoia Sugar, a side he helped gain promotion to the Kenyan Premier League a while back, and AFC Leopards.
Speaking on Simiyu’s addition, Tusker coach Okere hailed the forward as a player with loads of potential.
“He is a player that we have keenly followed throughout the first leg of the NSL and we are optimistic that he brings with him a lot of potential. We know that he has what can spur our forward line and will bring the necessary competition to the team,” Okere relayed.
In addition to laying a quest for the league title, the 13-time league champions are among the front runners for the KPL title this season sitting in second place in the 18-team table.
The side is also in the Football Kenya Federation Cup second round where they are set to face Nairobi United in the round of 16 tie.
