Michael Olununga Football Academy (MOFA) communication lead, Bonface Osano, has clarified the signing spree the National Super League side has embarked on.

In a phone interview with People Daily Digital Sport, Osano confirmed that the team is actively strengthening for next season by making significant signings during the recess period in Kenya’s football calendar.

Notably, MOFA has raided their fellow NSL side Kisumu All Stars for top talent, including head coach Charles Bruno. The latest star to join MOFA from Kisumu is the midfielder Odoke Japheth Onyango.

”We are not just signing from established teams but also monitoring players from school partners as well. We will follow the right procedure to tap into talent at the school level. That will be handled by the technical bench,” Osano stated.

On Tuesday, July 29, 2025, MOFA confirmed the acquisition of Japheth Onyango, affectionately known as Odo, from Kisumu All Stars ahead of the 2025/26 season.

The talented attacking midfielder, hailed for his flair, vision, and creativity in the final third, becomes the latest addition to MOFA’s squad as they bolster their midfield options. ODO, a native of Obunga, a vibrant footballing hub in Kisumu County, has carved a reputation as a dynamic playmaker capable of unlocking tight defences with ease while plying his trade for the Kisumu All Stars.

In a statement released by the club, MOFA expressed delight at bringing in a player of ODO’s calibre, describing him as a vital addition who brings “flair and creativity” into their system.

“We’re happy to welcome Odoke Japheth Onyango, better known as Odo, to MOFA FC. The attacking midfielder joins us from Kisumu All Stars, bringing flair, creativity, and that Obunga fire to our midfield. Welcome to the family, Odo. Let’s make magic together,” read the club’s announcement.

With pre-season training underway, fans will be eager to see the impact of their new No. 10 as MOFA gears up for an exciting campaign ahead. The team, owned by Harambee Stars captain Michael Olunga, is currently on a recruitment drive, bringing new ideas to the technical bench department as well as going for youthful talent from the lower leagues.
