Michira brace inspires Shabana to 4-2 win over APS Bomet

By , September 21, 2025

Shabana FC bounced back in style with a thrilling 4-2 victory over APS Bomet at Gusii Stadium, with winger Brian Michira starring with a brace. The win marked an important response for the Kisii-based side, who recently saw their Shabana Day celebrations spoiled by Tanzanian outfit Pamba Jiji.

The Glamour Boys came into the fixture determined to restore pride, and they started strongly. Michira, who has been one of the team’s standout players in recent months, wasted no time in stamping his authority, scoring in the 2nd minute.

APS Bomet tried to find their rhythm but were undone once again by Michira, again coverted from the spot in the 12th minute. An own goal in the 19th minute extended Shabana’s lead. APS Bomet are playing their first season in the FKF Premier League after sealing historic promotion last term. The South Rift side earned their place in the top flight following a decisive FKF Committee ruling that awarded them a controversial NSL clash against Kibera Black Stars.

Bomet fight back twice

Bomet, however, refused to lie down. They responded with a goal in the 36th minute through Bob Cetric, punishing a lapse in Shabana’s defence. The contest opened up, with chances at both ends, but it was Shabana who went into the break holding a narrow lead.

The second half produced even more drama. APS Bomet came out stronger and pulled another goal back in the 89th minute through Hansel. However, the Glamour Boys showed resilience, driven by the energy from the home fans who have long made Gusii Stadium an intimidating ground for visiting teams.

A few minutes later, in additional time, Derrick Otieno stepped up at the crucial moment and sealed the win with a fourth goal, leaving no doubt about the result.

The victory also highlighted the importance of Michira, whose brace adds weight to the calls for him to feature more prominently in the national team discussions.
