McKinstry issues update on injured Gor Mahia duo

Gor Mahia’s head coach, Johnathan McKinstry, has provided an update on the injuries of Patrick Sibomana and Roger Mugisha.

The two had to be substituted during their match against Bidco United, which ended in a goalless draw on Saturday.

Regarding Patrick Sibomana, McKinstry explained that Sibomana experienced a minor issue in his back while attempting to cross the ball.

It wasn’t a significant groin or hamstring problem, but as a precaution, they decided to substitute him.

“Patrick Sibomana felt a little tweak in his back when he whipped in a cross. It wasn’t like a groin or hamstring. We felt it was better to bring him off,” McKinstry revealed.

As for Roger Mugisha, the coach revealed that initial assessments pointed toward a hamstring injury. However, Mugisha will undergo further tests to determine the extent of the injury. McKinstry expressed hope that the player’s recovery period will not be too extended.

“For Roger, it looks like a hamstring, we will have the swelling assessed, and we send the best wishes to the player, hoping it won’t keep him sidelined for too long,” McKinstry said.

Gor Mahia fail to cut gap

The goalless draw in the match against Bidco United meant that Gor Mahia was unable to close the gap with Posta Rangers in the Football Kenya Federation Premier table.

It also continued their unbeaten streak against Bidco United, making it seven games in the top flight without a loss against them.

Following the challenging encounter against Bidco United, Gor Mahia will now shift their focus to their next opponent, Shabana.
