Mully Children’s Family FC and Mombasa Elite FC picked important wins in midweek National Super League matches played yesterday. MCF were 3-0 winners over Kajiado FC and are now 10th on the log with 15 points after 12 matches.

The Yatta-based side ensured they made the Camp Toyoyo Grounds impenetrable as they went about their business in dispatching the struggling Kajiado who found it hard to even get to the final third. Kajiado who are currently 16th on the log have amassed only seven points off 12 matches played.

With only two wins thus far in the League, the newbies seem headed for relegation going by their worsening performances. So far, they have nine losses and a -11 goal difference having only one win in the past five matches. Kajiado’s last match saw them lose 2-0 to retail outfit Naivas FC at home.

At the same time, Gusii FC’s attempt at catching their rivals and neighbors Shabana FC at the top of the standings suffered a jolt after losing 1-0 at home against visiting Mombasa Elite FC. However, Gusii maintain second spot albeit with 25 points after 12 matches played. As such, the team is still very much still in the running to fight for a promotion berth.

In the game, Gusii had lots of the ball but were often caught napping through counter attacks deployed on multiple occasions by the coastal lads. The hosts had their chances as well but were spurned magnificently in what was a defensive masterpieces by Elite who are now an incredible sixth place on the log after 13 matches and on 19 points. This win was their fifth on the trot and fifth this campaign in overall.

Elite has four losses and four draws so far and are amongst the most improved teams. In their last encounter ,they beat strugglers Vihiga United 2-0 away. Gusii’s immediate prior results was a surprise 2-2 against lowly Silibwet Leons FC at home and it was the first time in as many weeks they failed to win in back to back matches.
