Mathare United secured their first victory of the season with a 2-1 win over Mulembe United FC on Sunday, September 24, 2023, at Police Sacco Stadium.

The breakthrough for Mathare came in the 19th minute when Timothy Otieno was fouled in the penalty area. Mark Khadohi confidently stepped up and converted the penalty.

In the second half, Mulembe United showed resilience and leveled the score 28 minutes into the period. Kendrick Onzere netted a stunning long-range free-kick, sending the Mulembe fans into jubilation.

However, Mulembe’s joy was short-lived as Mathare United responded swiftly. Meshack Otieno, making his debut, capitalized on a fine setup by Elias Cheruiyot to score from close range.

Both teams continued to create scoring opportunities, with Mulembe United coming close with a free-kick that was expertly saved, and Mathare United hitting the woodwork with a goal-bound shot.

In the end, Mathare United emerged victorious with a final score of 2-1.

In another thrilling encounter, newcomers Nairobi United secured their second win in the FKF National Super League (NSL) by defeating Kisumu All Stars 2-0 at Kasarani Annex.

Henry Omollo opened the scoring in the 35th minute, and Brian Lusamukha sealed the victory with a well-taken goal in the 77th minute.

In additional matches, Mara Sugar and Migori Youth battled to a 1-1 draw at Awendo Green Stadium, while Vihiga Bullets and Dimba Patriots also played to a 1-1 scoreline.
