FKF PL Week 6: Mashemeji Derby headlines action as Posta Rangers hope to extend unbeaten run
The Football Kenya Federation Premier League enters its sixth week, with the match between Gor Mahia and AFC Leopards being the highlight of the weekend.
Posta Rangers, who have had an impressive start to the new season, will be in action on Friday, October 6, 2023, when they take on Nzoia Sugar at Kasarani Annex.
It is going to be a tough test for the Sugar Millers, who have struggled to replicate the fine form seen last season.
For the Mailmen, a win is key because it will keep them at the top and maintain a considerable gap between them and Gor Mahia and Murang’a Seal, who are second and third, respectively.
Kakamega Homeboyz will host Talanta at Bukhungu Stadium, with the former looking for a back-to-back victory since beating Bandari at Mbaraki Stadium in week five. On the other hand, Talanta will be looking for their second win of the season.
In the final game on Friday, Tusker will host struggling Shabana at Ruaraka Ground.
With eight points and two wins, the Brewers will be keen to win and close the gap with the leading pack.
Shabana have struggled and are rooted in 16th place, and a match against the local giants offers them a chance to pick up their maiden win in their debut top-flight season.
Murang’a Seal will be up against Sofapaka in one of the matches scheduled for Saturday.
The league debutants host the former Premier League champions, who have struggled and sit at the bottom of the table with just a point.
Seal will hope for a win and remain in the top three, while a victory will ease pressure on the struggling Batoto ba Mungu.
Police FC, under a new technical bench, will be looking for their second win of the season against Nairobi City Stars.
With two wins, two draws, and a loss, City Stars are expected to give Police a tough outing when they clash at Kasarani Stadium at 3:00 p.m.
Mashemeji Derby
At 4:00 p.m., the league’s focus will shift to the Mashemeji Derby when AFC Leopards host Gor Mahia at Kasarani main Stadium.
AFC Leopards will be looking for their first win of the season, while Gor Mahia will hope to avoid a defeat and, on a hopeful note, to win and maintain their unbeaten run.
Ingwe have struggled; they are 14th with just four points, and a win over the arch-rivals will not only be big but will also see them grab the derby’s bragging rights once again.

Two matches have been lined up for Sunday, October 8, with Muhoroni Youth facing KCB in Muhoroni.
The other match will see Bidco United tackle Bandari at Kasarani.
