Malkia Strikers squad for World Chmapionships named
By Joel Masibo, August 14, 2025Kenya Volleyball Federation has named the Malkia Stikers squad, which will feature in the 2025 FIVB Women’s World Championship in Thailand.
The team, comprising 16 players, was named on Thursday, August 14, 2025, and will immediately jet out to Vietnam for training and friendlies vs Spain Vietnam ahead of the 2025 FIVB World Championship. Only 14 will continue to Thailand on 19-20 August, ready for the big stage on 22 Aug.

Those dropped are setters Kenya Defence Forces Vallerie Chepkoech and Directorate of Criminal Investigations Vivian Vugutsa, libero Peninah Wafula and Kenya Prisons Sharon Sandui, who is yet to recover from the injury she picked up during the Kenya Cup semifinal match against KCB Women’s Volleyball Team.
A provisional squad of 18 players has been in residential training at the Nyayo National Stadium gymnasium in Nairobi for weeks. The national women’s volleyball technical bench had, on Friday, July 25, 2025, whittled down the squad to 20 players ahead of the FIVB Women’s Volleyball World Championship in Thailand.
The upcoming event in Asia will run from August 22 to September 7, 2025. A provisional squad of 29 players has been undergoing non-residential training at Nyayo National Stadium in Nairobi, honing their skills ahead of the showpiece.
The technical bench is composed of head coach Geoffrey Omondi, assistant coaches Esther Jepkosgei and David Muthui and trainer Azenga Mavisi. The team’s physiotherapist is Sarah Karongo.
Malkia Strikers will be jetting out of the country just days after the U-20 team, Junior Malkia Strikers, were crowned the African Championship winners in Cameroon, after edging the host nation in the final on Monday, August 11, 2025.
