The national women’s volleyball team Malkia Strikers on Sunday sailed through to the African Nations Volleyball Championships final with an emphatic display against Morocco in the semi-finals at the Kigali Arena in Rwanda.

The win means Malkia Strikers have qualified for the FIVB World Championship and at the same time booked the next year’s World Championships ticket to be co-hosted by Netherlands and Poland respectively.

The Malkia strikers team advanced to the finals of the Africa Nations Championships after a 3-0 25-12, 25-21-25-11 win over Morocco in the semi-finals stage.

Prior to the much awaited fixture against Rwanda, the hosts were found guilty of fielding four ineligible players, with the debacle threatening the cancellation of the tournament.

On Saturday night, the African volleyball governing body then announced the resumption of action while suspending Rwanda, who were set to meet with the Kenyans at the semi-finals stage.

Nigeria, who had filed a complaint against Rwanda, replaced the hosts after finishing third in pool A of the volleyball championships.

Kenya will meet the winner of the clash between Cameroon and Nigeria in the final on Sunday night.
