Magical Kenya Open 2024: List of all Kenyan players

13 golfers, including nine professionals and four amateurs, are representing Kenya in the Magical Kenya Open at the Par 71 Muthaiga Golf Course.

Pros

Dismas Indiza

Hailing from Kakamega Sports Club, Dismas Indiza boasts an impressive track record in golf, including notable finishes in various tournaments.

He has participated in multiple editions of the Magical Kenya Open, with his latest finish being 99th place in 2023.

Greg Snow

Representing Muthaiga Golf Club, Greg Snow brings a wealth of experience to the tournament.

He has showcased his skills on both local and international circuits, with notable achievements such as a 10th-place finish in the Barclays Kenya Open in 2014.

Mutahi Kibugu

The son of veteran golfer Dan Kagwe, and his brother Njoroge Kibugu, have made significant strides in their golfing careers.

Mutahi, the only Kenyan who made the money cut in the 2023 edition of the Magical Kenya Open, aims to continue his progress alongside his brother Njoroge, a promising junior golfer who has already made waves in the sport.

Njoroge Kibugu

Njoroge Kibugu made headlines in 2022 when he qualified to play in a prestigious world event alongside 14 other Kenyans. Despite his junior status, Njoroge showcased exceptional talent by shooting six under par 136, outperforming some of Kenya’s seasoned professionals and fellow amateurs.

While he didn’t clinch the overall title, Njoroge’s remarkable performance earned him the distinction of being the youngest player ever to make the cut in the tournament’s history, which dates back to 1967.

His outstanding achievements didn’t go unnoticed, as then-President Uhuru Kenyatta sponsored him to compete in a DP World Tour event held in Belgium.

Daniel Nduva

Representing Nyali Golf Club, Daniel Nduva is set to make his fourth appearance in the Magical Kenya Open. Despite facing stiff competition, Nduva has consistently demonstrated his skill and determination on the golf course, with his latest finish being 138th place in 2023.

Mohit Mediratta

A member of Sigona Golf Club, Mohit Mediratta is gearing up for his second appearance in the Magical Kenya Open after his debut in the 2023 edition.

Starting his golfing journey at a young age, Mediratta has shown immense potential and is eager to make his mark on the tournament.

Samuel Njoroge

Njoroge who participated in the 2021 edition of the Magical Kenya Open, is no stranger to the international stage.

As the sole Kenyan to reach the prize money bracket in his previous appearance, Njoroge aims to build on his past success and make a strong impression in the upcoming tournament.

Justus Madoya

Born and raised in Naivasha, Justus Madoya has overcome various challenges to pursue his passion for golf. With support from his family and community, Madoya has honed his skills and is ready to showcase his talent on the grand stage of the Magical Kenya Open once again.

Mike Kisia

A member of Vetlab Golf Club, Mike Kisia is set to make his maiden appearance in the Magical Kenya Open.

Amateurs

Michael Karanga:

Michael Karanga made history as the first player in Kenya to secure the top three major golf titles in the country: the Kenya Amateur Match Play Championship, Kenya Amateur Stroke Play, and the Golfer of The Year Award.

Despite narrowly missing out on victory to Ugandan Godfrey Nsubuga by one shot in the Nyali Open, Karanga concluded the 2023 season with an impressive total of 1213 points from 18 tournaments.

His dominance saw him emerge victorious in 13 of these events, securing a lead of over 600 points ahead of his closest rival, John Lejirma of Kenya Railway Golf Club.

Karanga has a golf initiative, “GOLF MASHINANI,” which aims to foster interest in the sport among young players, irrespective of social class.

He is ranked 76th globally and 2nd in Africa among amateur golfers.

John Lejirma

John Lejirma, the team captain for the amateurs, was named the 2022 Kenya Amateur Golf Championship (KAGC) Golfer of the Year.

The Samburu County native accumulated 594 points throughout that season, boasting an impressive average score of 71.85 per round.

Representing the Railway Golf Club, Lejirma will be making his third appearance in the Magical Kenya Open.

Isaac Makokha

Isaac Makokha, a member of Vet Lab Golf Club, will be returning to the Magical Kenya Open for the first time since 2021.

Josephat Rono

Josephat Rono is set to make his debut appearance in the Magical Kenya Open.
