Ligi Ndogo 18th edition games kick off at Lenana School

Kings Football Academy (KFA) beat Ligi Ndogo 1-0 in the U15 group stage as the 18th edition of the Ligi Ndogo East Africa Championships kicked off at Lenana School grounds at the weekend.

The closely contested match saw KFA score the winning goal through their indefatigable captain Joseph Oundo.

In the U11 category, Legacy Academy settled for a barren draw with UFA Simba with the Under 19 match between Legacy Academy and Black Panther recording a similar result.

 However, in the U13 group stage Legacy Academy triumphed over Juventus Academy with a 4-0 win.

The event has attracted school teams,  and football academies from Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda, and Burundi, who have signed up their U7, U9, U11, U13, U15, U17, and U19 to contest for the much-coveted silverware.

The tournament’s defending champions are Ligi Ndogo (U7), Ligi Ndogo Galaxy (U9), Ufa Simba (U11), Ufa Simba (U13), Ligi Ndogo Planets (U15), Berlin FC (U17), Berlin FC (U19).

A total of 100 games kicked off the group stages of the tourney, played in 11 pitches, after which, the winning teams were scheduled to advance to the knockout stage.

The Ligi Ndogo East Africa cup tournament has contributed to the growth of football in Kenya by producing some of Kenya’s finest talent.

They include Harambee Stars winger Ayub Timbe (Buriram United, Thailand) and Yidah Sven( Marumo Gallants, South Africa).
