‎A day before the commencement of the Kenya Secondary Schools Sports Association term two national games, Namwela Boys High School volleyball coach Isaac Muresha has warned against the forgery of talent.

‎Speaking to People Sport, Muresha noted that cheating in team selection is increasingly killing talents at the school level, further advising principals and coaches to exercise transparency in school games.

‎”A section of coaches and school heads is hungry for quick results. They opt to go for ineligible players while locking out children who truly deserve the chance to showcase their talents. This habit is killing many dreams at a younger age,” Muresha said.

Cheating cases

‎This year, cases of cheating and forgery were rampant at both county and regional levels in the Western part of the country in secondary school games. Kakamega High School and Musingu were embroiled in a series of appeals with document falsehoods involving players at the center stage.

‎”Let children play where they belong. If a child outgrows a certain level, give them a chance to move forward, other than holding them back while denying others opportunities to sell their gifts,” Muresha added.

Kakamega High School has been selected as the new venue for the Kenya Secondary Schools Sports Association (KSSSA) Term Two national games, according to a statement from the Ministry of Education.

Education Principal Secretary Julius Bitok, through an official circular, earlier announced the relocation of the event from Nakuru High School to Kakamega. The competition is set to run from July 29th to August 2nd, 2025.

The Term Two calendar will include a variety of disciplines: football, volleyball, rugby Sevens for both boys and girls, table tennis, badminton, and 3×3 basketball.

In addition, Musingu High School will be the venue for both Junior and Primary Schools’ ball games. Junior school students will take part in football, netball, volleyball, handball, and 3×3 basketball. For the primary category, under-12 players will compete in football, volleyball, handball, and netball.

St Anne’s Girls’ Mumias will simultaneously host the Special Primary Schools ball games during the same period. Meanwhile, St Peter’s Mumias will serve as the venue for the Secondary Special Needs Sports Term Two competitions.
