The win cemented the Granites’ favourites tag, having won all their group games.

The Western giants made a dream start to the games, edging Kisii 11-9. Marafa was next on their chopping board before a 5-3 success over Bwake Boys confirmed their place in the playoffs.

Another upset was recorded in the Basketball games where the fancied duo of Dagoretti and Lukenya School were eliminated at the semifinal stages on Friday clashes staged at the Shimo La Tewa grounds.

Upset galore

Despite a dominant start to the national games in Mombasa, Lukenya who started off a successive victories to their group test, were pegged back 66-70 by reigning champions Dr. Aggrey of Mombasa in a tense semi-final test.

Laiser Hill piped Dagoretti by two points, emerging an 85-83 winner against the Nairobi side to punch their ticket to the finals against Dr Aggrey.
