Kibwage hails Gor Mahia’s win over Sofapaka as season’s positive launchpad
By Luke Oluoch, September 28, 2025Gor Mahia centre back Mike Kibwage has tipped the team’s maiden FKF Premier League win over Sofapaka as a crucial launching pad for the team’s exploits in the season.
In a statement on his X page on Sunday, September 28, 2025, Kibwage hailed a collective team effort as K’Ogalo bounced back from their opening surprise defeat to stun Sofapaka 2-0 at the Dandora Stadium.
“Brilliant shift from everyone yesterday to get our first win of the season. Perfect launchpad into the season proper,” he said.
Adukwaw on fire
Ghanaian Ebenezer Adukwaw capped off a fine brace to secure a first league win of the season in the Saturday match-up with a scintillating display.
The new signing showed rare awareness to lob his effort past Sofapaka’s keeper.
The goal came after he had stormed Charles Akonnor’s team to a first-half lead.
Hungrier team
Speaking after the clash, Gor assistant coach Kobi-Mensah Bismark termed a hungry approach and the team’s determination as key to the win.
“At the end of the day, we wanted the results more than anything, and it has paid off,” he stated on Saturday, September 27, 2025.

“It is good to win and respond after last week’s disappointment. Today’s win is a good sign, and our players responded very well,” he added.
Tusker FC’s untravelling season continued unabated in a 2-1 loss to Sammy Omollo’s Posta Rangers charges.
Tusker woes
Former Gor man Eliud Lokuwam replicated Adukwaw’s heroic exploits as Erick Kapaito’s strike proved a mere consolation for the Brewers.
The result compounded matters for Charles Okere’s team, condemning them to the foot of the log as the Mailmen extended their dream start to the campaign to ascend to the league summit.
In Migori, hosts Mara Sugar and Kakamega Homeboyz both got off their league campaign on a tied outcome in a barren draw.
Abana be Ingo, who sat out of the opening fixtures with their matchdayopponents engaged in international commitments, could not break the determined hosts in the cagey affair.
