The Kenya Volleyball Federation (KVF) has announced a revision to its election schedule in response to a directive from the Sports Disputes Tribunal.

The decision, made during the tribunal’s session on July 14, 2023, comes after receiving consent from the parties involved in suit no. E012/2023.

Kenya Volley Federations elections change

The new order necessitates changes to both county branch and national elections.

Originally planned for July 15, 2023, the county branch elections have been postponed and rescheduled for July 29, 2023.

This adjustment aims to provide ample time for proper preparations and ensure a fair and transparent electoral process at the county level.

Likewise, the KVF National elections, initially set for July 29, 2023, will now take place on August 19, 2023.

Kenya Volley Federation extensions

The extended timeframe allows for a more comprehensive approach to organizing the national elections, ensuring that all necessary arrangements are in place.

“This is to bring to the attention of the Kenya Volleyball Federation family that the Sports Disputes Tribunal, on its sitting on 14th July 2023, after receiving consent from the parties in suit no.E012/2023, ordered, among other things, that county branch elections scheduled for July 15, 2023, be held on July 29, 2023,” a statement by KVF reads.

“Furthermore, KVF National elections scheduled for July 29, 2023, will take place on August 19, 2023.

As part of the directive from the Sports Disputes Tribunal, the court has also granted an extension of the terms for the current office holders at both the county and national levels.

This decision ensures continuity and stability within the federation until the new office bearers are elected.

The extension provides a seamless transition period, allowing the ongoing work of the KVF to continue without disruption.

11 days ago, KVF announced the guidelines and regulations for their County and National Elections.

To be eligible for candidacy, all candidates, proposers, and seconders must be fully paid-up members of KVF and in good administrative standing.

Payment of the respective fees (4,000/= for outgoing Branch and National officials, and 1,000/= for others) should be made to KVF’s account with the payment slip attached to all nomination forms.

Elections compliance

Candidates vying for County Branch positions are responsible for submitting their completed Nomination Forms and necessary attachments to their respective County Directors of Sports.

Compliance with Chapter 6 of the Kenyan Constitution is mandatory for all candidates, who must provide copies of various certificates as proof.

Similarly, proof of payment of Kshs 10,000 into the Federation Account must be attached to Nomination Forms for National positions. No nomination will be valid or accepted without the accompanying nomination fee.

The Returning Officers for the County Elections will be the County Directors of Sports, while the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has been appointed as the Returning Agency for the National Elections.
