Kenya U-20 women’s volleyball team sails to finals after defeating Egypt
By Arnold Ngure, August 10, 2025The Kenya Under-20 women’s volleyball team is on course to bring the trophy back home after thrashing Egypt 3-0 sets at the ongoing 2025 Women’s U20 African Nations Volleyball Championship in Cameroon.
The Junior Malkia Strikers will face off against hosts Cameroon, who also beat Senegal 3-0, securing a spot alongside Kenya at the finals set for Tuesday, August 12, 2025.
Hailing the youngsters on Sunday, August 10, 2025, Sports Cabinet Secretary Salim Mvurya remarked that the country was behind them as they seek continental glory.

The tournament, which started on Sunday, August 3, 2025, is set to run through Tuesday, August 12, 2025.

Dominant run
Kenya started their campaign with a dominant 3-0 victory over Senegal, showcasing strong offensive and defensive play.
However, they faced a tough challenge against the home team, falling to a resilient Cameroon side in a hard-fought 3-1 defeat.
In a decisive rebound, the Junior Malkia Strikers rebounded with a 3-0 win against Uganda to confirm their dominance in the quest for continental glory.
Another key preliminary result for Kenya was a crucial 3-1 victory over Egypt, a match where rising star Terry Maline Tata delivered a standout performance, earning her the Most Valuable Player award.
This win was a significant statement of intent, positioning Kenya favorably for the latter stages. Meanwhile, Egypt also showed their strength with a commanding 3-0 win over Uganda and a similar scoreline against Burundi.
