Kenya Sevens Head Coach Damian McGrath has made two changes to his squad that will be on duty at the Los Angeles 7s scheduled for 27-28 August at Dignity Park.

The two changes have seen Levy Amunga and Herman Humwa pave way for Samuel Oliech and Jeff Oluoch. Humwa and Amunga were part of the squad that featured at the Commonwealth Games Rugby Sevens competition in Birmingham.

Selection

Speaking on their selection, the coach said he is keen to see how the new inclusions will perform and added that he is keen to make changes to the squad to hand top performers in the National 7s Circuit a chance.

“The side for L.A was selected mainly on the contracted players, I’ve made two changes from the Commonwealth Games team simply to have a look at other players, so Sammy Oliech and Jeff Oluoch will come in. It’s not a reflection on the guys who have been left out,” he told KRU Media.

“It’s just a chance for me to look at them because we are looking to change the senior squad group to bring in some younger players from the National Sevens Circuit,”  McGrath added.

Shujaa are in Pool D and will kick off their North American campaign against Samoa on Saturday, August 27 at 8.26pm EAT.

This will be followed by a match against England at 11.10 p.m. on the same day, before concluding pool play against Scotland at 2.21 a.m. on Sunday.
