Kenya Police have confirmed Harambee Stars midfielder Duke Abuya’s departure from the club ahead of the new season.

Abuya, who joined the club from Zambia Super League side Nkana FC in 2021, contributed significantly with 22 assists during his time at the club. The player is linked with a loan move to Singida.

Kenya Police miss Abuya

Geoffrey Maelo, the Police FC team manager, expressed the team’s regret at losing Abuya but assured that they have already found a replacement for the Harambee Stars attacker.

“We will miss Duke Abuya but his gap has been already been filled,” Maelo said in an interview.

Maelo also confirmed that Singida is interested in acquiring players such as Elvis Rupia, Alvin Mange’ni, David Simiyu, and Tyson Otieno.

However, he stated that the club is not willing to let go of these players as they are determined to build a squad that can win the league in the upcoming season.

“Singida have been impressed by a number of our players such Machapo (Rupia) as Alvin, David, Tyson. There are players that they would wish to have but we cannot destroy a house we have built and we also want to be champions,” he added.

Police have played to a 1-1 draw against Singida and registered a similar result against Namungo FC.

In preparation for the new season, Kenya Police FC has strengthened its midfield with notable signings like Tyson Otien and Harambee Stars midfielder Kenneth Muguna.

These additions are expected to enhance the team’s attacking abilities and provide stability in the midfield.

The club has also made significant coaching appointments, bringing Salim Babu as an assistant coach and Nowel Mandi as a physiotherapist to add valuable expertise to the technical staff.

During the previous FKF Premier League season, Kenya Police FC displayed an impressive performance, finishing third in the league standings, just six points behind the champions, Gor Mahia.

They recorded 18 wins, 10 draws, and only six losses throughout the season. The team proved to be the most potent attacking force, scoring an impressive 55 goals, while maintaining a strong defensive record by conceding the fewest goals, with only 22 against them.
