Kenya Morans demolish Old Miltonians to storm Zambezi 7s semis

Kenya Sevens’ second side, the Morans, have progressed to the 2025 Zambezi 7s semi-finals after thrashing Old Miltonians 48 – 0 in the quarter-finals played on Sunday morning, November 8, 2025, in Harare.

Following their impressive run at the tournament, the Kevin Wambua charges will face Old Georgians in the Semis at 1:20 PM, EAT. The team began their 2025 Zambezi 7s Rugby Challenge campaign in style on Saturday, November 8, 2025, claiming two victories on the opening day at Harare Sports Club in Zimbabwe.

The second-string national sevens side showed intent from the first whistle, hammering Old Hararians 41-0 in their opening Pool B match. Captain John Okoth led from the front, scoring the first try to settle the early nerves after the Zimbabwean side had threatened in the opening minutes.

They maintained their strong momentum in the second game, thrashing Zimbabwe’s local club Pitbulls 36-0 to go top of their pool at the close of Day One.

Ahead of the tournament, Coach Wambua had highlighted the team’s enthusiasm and determination ahead of their departure, saying the tournament presents a crucial opportunity for the players to gain valuable experience and showcase their abilities on a competitive platform.

Wambua optimistic

“We have assembled a quality squad with a blend of skill, energy, and hunger to compete. This is an important step for these players as we continue strengthening the pipeline for the national sevens program. We believe they are ready to represent the country with pride and deliver excellent performances,” he said.

Meanwhile, straight from finishing third in the 2025 edition of the Safari Sevens that took place on home soil at the Nyayo National Stadium from Friday, October 10, to Sunday, October 12, 2025, in Nairobi, the Morans are testing themselves on away territory.

Some of the teams that have taken part in the competition include Zimbabwe, who were expected to field their main team and a second side; Zambia; Botswana; and South African franchise outfits.
