Kenya Blades on course to qualify for 2024 Paris Olympic Games
Olympics is looking good for Kenya Ladies Hockey team known as the Blades after they won their second game in a row in a span of 24 hours in the Continental Qualifiers being held in Pretoria, South Africa.
Following their Tuesday afternoon 3-2 slim win over pre-tournament favourites Ghana and yesterday’s 1-0 over Namibia, the Michael Senge coached side are now oozing with confidence. The Kenyans had also seen off Zambia by an emphatic 4-0 to take a firm lead of Group B ahead of the semi-finals.
Both Kenya and hosts South Africa remain the only teams to already qualify for the semis. The key players in the tournament have been Flavian Mutiva, Captain Lynne Kimtai and Doreen Okumu.
In another Game, Ghana thumped Zambia 7-1 just a day after falling to Kenya with the likes of Mavis Berko and Doris Antwi doing the business. As for the Men’s team,the arithmetic look tight as they sit third in their Group with 3 points in the bag.
Egypt already top the group and are through to the semi-finals.Kenya narrowly beat Zambia 1-0 for their lone win but know full well that some changes in tactics needs to happen in order to even have a short at qualification.
