KCB FC extended their lead at the top of the league following a commanding 3-0 win over Posta Rangers in a match played on Saturday at Thika Stadium.

The Bankers came into the match unbeaten, having drawn 0-0 with Kariobangi Sharks and defeated Murang’a Seal 2-0 last weekend to take pole position in the league.

KCB yet to concede

Posta Rangers were also unbeaten, having drawn 1-1 in their previous fixture before bouncing back with a 1-0 win over AFC Leopards.

KCB, yet to concede a goal this season, started strongly and opened the scoring just before the half-hour mark. Lameck Oloo unleashed a powerful shot that troubled the Posta Rangers goalkeeper, and Francis Kahiro was on hand to slot the rebound for a 1-0 lead.

The Bankers doubled their lead right before halftime, with Kahiro tapping in his second goal following a well-placed cross from Kevin Okumu, giving KCB a 2-0 cushion at the break.

In the second half, KCB made several substitutions, bringing off Kahiro, James Kinyanjui, and Patrick Otieno for Derrick Otanga, Vincent Ondabu, and skipper Michael Mutinda. The changes paid off as KCB remained dominant, and two minutes from full-time, Stephen Etyang netted his first-ever goal for the Bankers, sealing the 3-0 win and securing all three points.

Sunday Fixtures

The league action continues on Sunday with three matches lined up. Tusker will host Kakamega Homeboyz at 3:00 p.m. at Machakos Stadium, Kariobangi Sharks will take on Murang’a Seal at Dandora Stadium, and Ulinzi Stars will face Shabana FC at Ulinzi Complex, also at 3:00 p.m.

Gor Mahia remain absent from domestic league action as they focus on their CAF Champions League campaign. The team has safely arrived in Cairo ahead of their second-leg clash against 12-time African champions Al Ahly SC, scheduled for Saturday at Cairo International Stadium.

Gor Mahia will be looking to overturn a 3-0 deficit from the first leg played at Nyayo Stadium, where Rami Rabia opened the scoring for Al Ahly in the 4th minute, followed by a brace from Percy Tau in the 15th and 74th minutes.

Gor Mahia head coach Jonathan Neiva admitted that his side was outclassed by the Egyptian giants, citing stage fright as a possible reason for their struggles.
